On Sunday September 20, 2009 I preached a sermon entitled "Until the Harvest". The sermon was inspired by my late friend and Brother William Agustus Jones. Dr. Jones was the Eminent Pastor of the Bethany Baptist Church of Brooklyn NY. Some years ago; when Dr. Jones was guest preacher at the Hampton Ministers Conference, He showed me that any existence had a perpetual waiting element encased in it. How I endured the wait would graphically affect my journey. The faith in the inevitable triumph of gods plan for my life was sufficient to sustain me through whatever trial, tribulation or trouble I encountered. If I was willing and able to wait for his time to manifest itself.
The scripture was taken from St. Matthew’s Gospel chapter 13 verses 24-30. It is "The parable of the Wheat and Tares". The owner knew something about his field that the servants did not know. The servants wanted to pull up the tares that interested their master’s field. But because the master’s perfect knowledge of the field gave him a better view of the situation he forbade them. With this admonition. "Let both grow together until the harvest." I was concerned with what the master KNEW... that we servants do not know. These four considerations may be helpful for you. They were for me.
The master knew:
1. Wheat and Tares look alike when they both are immature.
2. The strongest, Tare cannot destroy the weakest Wheat.
3. We must learn how to live with the Tares until the Harvest
4. Both the separating and the harvest are the Lord’s business.
